§ 2
Published measurements
Tire makers' size tables list 8 tires in 295/65R20 from 3 brands. All 8 are LT versions; none are P-metric. Makers list load range E.
Published overall diameters run from 35.1 in to 35.47 in, which is 0.0% to +1.1% against the formula. Weights run from 63 lbs to 75.3 lbs. New tread depths run from 16.1/32 in to 19.5/32 in. The maker tables were checked on October 15, 2026.
- Toyo Open Country A/T III — 35.1 in overall, 63 lbs, 16.6/32 in tread depth (Toyo).
- Mickey Thompson Baja Legend EXP — 35.4 in overall, 11.6 in section width, 66 lbs, 18.5/32 in tread depth (Mickey Thompson).
- Nitto Trail Grappler M/T — 35.47 in overall, 12.13 in overall width, 75.3 lbs, 19.4/32 in tread depth (Nitto).
- Makers list approved rim widths and the maximum load rating on the sidewall; see 49 CFR 571.139.
§ 3
Closest sizes within 3%
The neighbors table uses a ±3% overall-diameter window on nearby rims. The ±3% window is a tire-shop rule of thumb, not a law.
Sizes within 3% include 285/65R20 at 34.6 in (−1.5%), 275/65R20 at 34.1 in (−2.9%), 325/60R20 at 35.4 in (+0.7%), and 35x12.50R20 at 35.0 in (−0.3%). From 295/65R20 to 35x11.50R20 a −0.3% diameter change is −0.10 in (−3 mm).
- An indicated 60 mph becomes a true 59.8 mph for a −0.3% neighbor; an indicated 100 km/h becomes 99.7 km/h. See the speedometer calculator.
- Revolutions per mile change 575 → 576 for a −0.3% neighbor. Ground clearance at the axle changes by −0.05 in (−1 mm) for that example.

Note 1
P-metric or LT in the same size
8 LT and 0 P versions in the tables we read.
No single model in our tables is published in both P and LT versions of 295/65R20; Table 3 lists both types side by side.
On trucks and SUVs, the load ratings of the tires on an axle must add up to at least the axle’s GAWR on the certification label (49 CFR 571.110).
Vehicles on 295/65R20: not listed yet. We add a vehicle here only from its maker’s own spec sheet for that year and trim.
The size your vehicle left the factory on is printed on the tire and loading placard on the driver’s door jamb (49 CFR 571.110). Pressure and load: that placard too.

Q&A
Common questions
How many revolutions per mile does 295/65R20 make?
By the formula 295/65R20 makes 575 revolutions per mile (357 per km). Toyo's size table lists 592 revs per mile for its Open Country A/T III and 588 revs per mile for its M/T.
Are there passenger (P-metric) versions of 295/65R20?
Makers' size tables list 8 tires in 295/65R20 and all are LT versions; none are P-metric. Load range E is the load-range letter shown by the makers.
What load markings should I check on the tire?
Tire sidewalls show the maximum load rating and, for LT tires, the load range letter as required by 49 CFR 571.139. Also check the vehicle's tire and loading placard on the driver's door jamb per 49 CFR 571.110.
Will a nearby size change my speedometer reading?
Small diameter differences give small speedometer changes. A −0.3% example shows an indicated 60 mph equals a true 59.8 mph and revs per mile change 575 → 576.
Notes
Method and sources
Each number and rule comes from a source with the date it was checked.
- Sidewall = width × aspect ratio ÷ 100
- Diameter = rim × 25.4 + 2 × sidewall (mm)
- Revs per mile = 63,360 ÷ (π × diameter, in)
- True speed = dial × new diameter ÷ old diameter
- Clearance change = half the diameter change
Numbers are nominal: the tire unloaded, on its measuring rim. Revs per mile published by makers run higher than the formula. “Within 3%” is a rule of thumb tire shops use, not a law. Tire pressure: the placard on your door jamb.
